Tornado Strikes South Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Several neighborhoods in Fern Creek are in cleanup mode after a brief, but powerful tornado hit the area.

The tornado destroyed and damaged several homes along Cedar Creek road. The storms flipped vehicles and left roofing shingles and other debris hanging in trees. No one was hurt.

Witnesses say the twister came out of nowhere, touched down and then instantly disappeared. They say the tornado touched down right before the sirens went off.

The National Weather Service says the tornado was 50 yards wide.
